self-trust Dec 02, 2023

Being filled with wonder, open to the beauty and mysteries of life, may feel like a tough ask right now.

As our transformational marathon wears on, the overwhelm is palpable. So, it can be helpful to remember that, like any birthing process, it's a journey. Today's challenging circumstance is actually different from yesterday's. And most importantly, you are different in it.

Every up or down along the way shifts your perspective, alters your position, changes you. This path you're on is made by walking, and with every step you're becoming more capable, more aware, more of the powerful co-creator you really are.

Yet the road can feel long and the pain of change is real. A simple practice that genuinely eases the discomfort and brings grace to all the life lessons is to use your attention to pause with intention: Take a Minute.

Because society tends to devalue the subtle realms in favour of the 3-D material world, it trains us to ‘just push through the stress’. We become used to invalidating our lived experience and minimizing our own inner knowing, which in turn erodes self-trust. The consequences of that lack include second-guessing important decisions, continually seeking external approval, and feeling disconnected from our own deeper desires, longings, emotions and needs.

So, the next time you find yourself knocked off your center, rather than ignoring the sensations in your body and soldiering on, try this quick and easy practice to bring you back to yourself:

TAKE A MINUTE

Stop wherever you are.

Close your eyes (if it’s safe).

Put a hand on your chest.

Exhale completely through pursed lips. (repeat if necessary).

Inhale fully through your nose, slowly exhale completely through your nose.

Pause.

Sink into the quiet of being empty.

As your breath returns to normal, just notice.

Notice…the sensations of your feet on the earth, the pull of gravity on your skeleton, the breeze on your skin.

Just be here and breathe.

When you’re ready, gently ask, What do I need to know right now?

Then listen for what comes.

As with all of our Inner Wisdom ways, the medium is the message – self-trust is itself a practice. The more you bring your attention to your lived experience in any given moment, and give it validity by allowing it to inform your deeper awareness of yourself and your circumstances, the more refined your capacity to truly see, hear, feel and know will become.

Without us necessarily even noticing, those same societal forces that conspire to keep us productive, striving and always 'on', can successfully hijack our innate capacity to heal ourselves. It's only recently that we've cottoned onto the realization that we are all powerful self-healers!

The fabulous and multi-talented Melanie Phillips used her powers as an intuitive energy practitioner to guide us into a state of expanded consciousness using Theta Healing breath work and meditation techniques during her November InnerWisdom Teaching Circle. From within that elevated energetic space we were better able to see, feel and allow an altered perspective on our current struggles and invite-in gifts, higher guidance and greater sense of genuine self-love.

Melanie is dedicated to helping you expand your capacity to love and experience freedom, empowering you with the wisdom to listen to your body while teaching you how self-love embodies profound healing at every level.
